Ahmed Jahouh has signed a one-year contract extension with FC Goa, which will see him turn up in the famed orange jersey until the end of the 2019-20 season. The club, on Thursday, took to its official social media handles to make the news public.

The Moroccan midfielder joined the Gaurs before the 2017-18 season and since then, has firmly established himself as one of the best players in the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL). Jahouh topped the charts for both attempted passes (1625 in 19 matches during Hero ISL 2017-18 and 1471 in 20 matches during Hero ISL 2018-19) and tackles (105 in 19 matches during Hero ISL 2017-18 and 126 in 20 matches during Hero ISL 2018-19) in both his seasons in India. Jahouh possesses the uncanny ability to control the game almost single-handedly from the middle of the park - a trait which helped the Gaurs immensely en route to their run till the Hero ISL semi-finals in 2017-18 and then the final in 2018-19.

The 30-year-old is considered one of the best passers of the ball in Hero ISL history and his 79.65 per cent accuracy is a staggering number, especially considering Jahouh primarily operates as a deep-lying midfielder and a large number of the passes he attempts are 40-50-yard long passes into the opposition half. With Goa head coach Sergio Lobera's style requiring the team to play out from the back, Jahouh's presence as one half of the dual fulcrum becomes essential to preserve Goa's style of play.
