Chennaiyin FC today launched their home jersey in Mumbai in the presence of co-owners Abhishek Bachchan and Vita Dani. The home kit is blue, with an away and third kit soon to be released as well.Also present on stage were selected members of the Chennaiyin FC squad - Bojan Djordjic, Bernard Mendy, Jeje Lalpekhlua, Gouramangi Singh, Abhishek Das and Harmanjot Singh Khabra, who all came on stage wearing the royal blue shirt. Bachchan also took off his coat and put on the team's colours to huge cheers from the media.During a Q&A session with the media after the jersey was revealed, Bachchan spoke of his pride on owning a football team, but mentioned that passion for Indian football played a big role in him becoming a part of the Hero ISL."One of the biggest reasons behind my involvement in Chennaiyin FC is that everyone at the ISL has a dream - to see India at the World Cup."People express shock that in a country of 1.2 billion, we can't put 11 good footballers on the pitch. We want to show them that we are 1.2 billion people and we can put 11 footballers on the pitch!"Bachchan went on to speak on a range of issues, including how sport in general is perceived across the country."I want to change the mindset in India that sports isn't a viable career option. It very much is, and all these players sitting beside me are a shining example of that."Bojan Djordjic, who will be captaining Chennaiyin FC this season, spoke eloquently about wanting to make everyone in Chennai proud of the club. The Swede went on to joke about Bachchan's allegiance to Chelsea, and his own Manchester United background.Bachchan also revealed that there are two or three team anthems which are ready, but will be released at a later date as they didn't want it to take the spotlight away from the jersey.Chennaiyin FC open their Hero ISL season away at FC Goa on 15th October.
