SC East Bengal head coach Mario Rivera expressed satisfaction with the intention of the players, but rued a few costly errors for his side’s 0-4 defeat against Hyderabad FC in their Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 match, on Monday evening.

SCEB started off the match poorly, failing to register a single shot at the Hyderbad FC goal in the first 30 minutes. But, came back into the thick of things as the first half went on, though that was not enough at the end.

This result leaves the Kolkata-based side at the bottom of the league table with only one win so far, in the season. The red and gold brigade will up against ATK Mohun Bagan in the Kolkata Derby, on Saturday evening.

Rivera addressed the media after the match.

Here are some excerpts from his press conference:

How disappointed are you with the result? Where does the team go from here?

Yeah, of course when you lose you are a little disappointed with the result. With the performance of the players and the intention to play is something to be proud of, they gave it their all and we tried to score up until the end and we tried to play good football but some mistakes were very bad for us.

Why did Franjo Prce take the penalty?

We had two players who we had decided to kick but none of them were on the field. Franco was convinced to do that and he has the quality to do that. But the keeper did a very good save.

Do you think that Bartholomew Ogbeche is the best player in the league?

I think that all the balls that he touched in the box went to the goal. Obviously, he's the top scorer. He's one of the best players in this league. And he has a long career of scoring in every country that he played in. He's a very good player

You play the Kolkata Derby on Saturday. How do you plan for that game after such a result?

Yes, our plan is the same. We will try to win, if we are losing we will try to score. And if we are winning also we will try to score more. My idea and the idea that the boys have is to try to win and for the derby we will play with more intention and try to dedicate the match to our supporters.
