Kerala Blasters FC host FC Pune City in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Thursday. The Blasters will look to get back to winning ways, after the 3-1 humbling at home to Bengaluru FC, under their newly appointed head coach David James. Ahead of the encounter, former Manchester United defender Wes Brown caught up with indiansuperleague.com to shed some light on the season and his stay in India. Here are the excerpts.

According to you, how different is Hero ISL?

Well, I’ve only played in England. So, this is the first time I’ve played abroad. It’s a little bit different. I like it. It’s the fourth season of ISL and I’m at one of the biggest clubs here. The whole set-up is really good, the players are good. Obviously, it’s a different experience. It’s good, I love the heat. It’s not like this in England. I’ve really enjoyed it.

Being in India, what do you love the most?

It’s a shame really that we don’t get to go out a lot. I do like the sun. I like the people, they are really nice and welcoming. The fans are brilliant, they’re extraordinary. Just playing in a different continent with different lads is good for myself personally and I’m glad I experienced it.

If you would like to take something from India, what would that be?

Coconut! No, just the fans in general always turn up regardless of a win, lose or a draw and they just want to see us play well and win well. I’ve got to give them credit for that and the people itself in Kerala have been really nice. Like I said, for me the whole experience (has been good). Like in Manchester, we get the sun only in the summer or couple of weeks here and there. Overall, I’ve really enjoyed it.

Who do you think is the most promising Indian football player?

We’ve got some really good players here. We have got some established players as well. Obviously the skipper Sandy (Sandesh Jhingan), CK (Vineeth), Siam (Hanghal), Milan (Singh), Arata (Izumi). From the younger players coming through, I like Deep and Sahal (Abdul Samad). I think they’re two players to look forward to in the future. The talent’s obviously here, so the more help they can get, the better they’ll become.

Any message for the fans?

Go out there and support. We’re going to do our best to try and win the game.
