Delhi Dynamos FC are in dire need of a change in fortunes if they are to salvage their 2018-19 Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) campaign. After nine matches, the Lions have failed to pick up a single victory and are rooted to the bottom of the table.

Ahead of their next match against Mumbai City FC, indiansuperleague.com caught up with youngster Vinit Rai for an exclusive interview. Here are the excerpts:

Thoughts on the season so far.

I know it’s been a very tough season for us, but we just can’t lose hope because still, the whole second leg is ahead of us and at the moment we are just looking forward to one match at a time. We just want to win the next match.

How important will getting the first win be?

Yeah, it is very important for us at the moment because the first leg is already over, and we haven’t won a single match. But I think if we win against Mumbai, then obviously it’s going to boost the confidence of the team and the environment will be different for the next match.

How important is it to remain positive?

I think it’s really important at the moment. I think with the game plan that the coach is giving us, we just have to stick to it and we just have to believe in him, believe in ourselves, and then, the result will be ours.

What are the positives to be taken from the season so far?

I think we have been playing really good football. We’re very unfortunate that we are not able to convert the chances into goals.
