CK Vineeth made a triumphant return for Kerala Blasters FC in Hero Indian Super League 2016 by scoring a dramatic late-winner in a 2-1 win against FC Goa in their last game. The local boy from Kerala came off the bench to devastating effect against the Gaurs and will be hoping to make a similar impact against Chennaiyin FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Saturday. The Indian winger spoke to indiansuperleague.com ahead of the second south Indian derby of the season. Here are the excerpts from the interview. You won the last match, so how is the team morale right now?We are confident but the last win was just three points and we need to get more points and wins to qualify for the semis. We are confident regarding qualifying for the semis, and we have just got to focus on that.It will be a packed stadium tomorrow. What are your expectations from the match?Expectations are high actually, and in last match fans were slightly fewer in number compared to the earlier matches and I think it will be a packed stadium tomorrow, so we have got to respond to these fans by winning the match against Chennaiyin FC and we need to keep the momentum going. What does a footballer have to do to stay fit physically and mentally in the off season?I don’t plan anything actually and I just travel anywhere I want to, and I engage in my hobbies like photography. I travel to get my mind fresh.Who is your biggest inspiration in football and who do you think is the best footballer in the world today? My biggest inspiration is my dad, even though he does not play football and as a footballer I have always followed Steven Gerrard. I am a big fan of him. He is going to retire soon. I think he was the best a few years back.
