Nicolas Velez will be looking to play his part in NorthEast United FC’s 2016 Hero Indian Super League clash against Chennaiyin FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Saturday. The Highlanders head into the contest high on confidence after beating FC Pune City 1-0 in their last match and will be looking to build on their winning momentum with another victory against the Super Machans. NorthEast currently lie sixth in the table with 14 points from 11 matches and are a spot above Chennaiyin in the standings courtesy of a superior goal-difference. Velez has enjoyed a fine season under Nelo Vingada having scored one goal, provided one assist and completed three successful take-ons as well as 12 key passes. The Argentine spoke exclusively to indiansuperleague.com in the build-up to their match against Chennaiyin. Here are the excerpts from the interview.You have three crucial games remaining, so how important is it to get a win tomorrow?We know we have three games remaining but the most important one right now is tomorrow’s game. We are ready and well prepared for it and I hope we can get three points tomorrow in Chennai.How is it playing under a coach like Vingada and how has he helped you improve your game?It’s a great experience. He is a great coach and he has coached teams in many countries like Portugal, Iraq and Egypt. First of all, he is a great person. He is very open with us. Everyone knows he is very experienced. He helps us a lot and gives us confidence which is very important for the players.NorthEast United FC have a large number of loud travelling supporters everywhere you go, so do you have any message for them ahead of the game?We have the greatest fans in the league and I just want to thank them for all the support and ask them to keep supporting us because we really need it for the last three games, and hopefully we can give them happiness in return by qualifying for the semis.
