Bengaluru FC registered back-to-back victories after overcoming defending champions ATK 1 – 0 in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday. The Blues’ captain Sunil Chhetri struck the winner in the first half to ensure all three points for his team. He spoke to indiansuperleague.com post-match and shared his thoughts regarding the outing against ATK. Here are the excerpts.

What are your thoughts on back-to-back victories?

After the two losses at home, our morale was down. We went to Kerala and bounced back well after a very difficult win at Kerala. Even today wasn’t easy at all. ATK are a very good side. We defended really well after the first goal and we’re very happy to get three points.

What went through your mind before scoring tonight?

Just get the ball, turn and shoot. It’s one of those things where you know when you get an opportunity and the coaches tell you to just take a shot and that’s what I did. It’s one of those days when it went in.

Your thoughts on facing ATK’s defence tonight?

1-0 is never really comfortable because you have to work really hard and you never know, one set-piece or an unlucky touch can change it. So, we really wanted to get the second goal. We tried our best, we hit the woodwork a couple of times, got unlucky there but it wasn’t easy at all against ATK. They are a good side and that is why we are really happy to get three points.

What are the emotions like in the dressing room?

We are a happy lot, a united lot as well. We work really hard as a team and that’s how we are used to being.
