Bengaluru FC were undone by Jamshedpur FC’s added-time penalty at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday. Once Trindade Goncalves managed to send the opponent keeper the wrong way to score the winner, it was Jamshedpur’s custodian Subrata Paul, whose heroics thwarted Bengaluru’s advances every single time and led to their fifth clean sheet of the season. Post the well-fought match, indiansuperleague.com caught up with Paul to take his views on their solid display. Here are the excerpts.

It was a great victory, what are your thoughts on the fixture?

It was a good fixture. We get some time to recover. First of all, I want to congratulate my teammates. We played as a team, we fought until the 94th minute. We got three points but Bengaluru also played very well. We were a bit lucky.

Today Jamshedpur showed a lot of attacking intent, was it planned coming into this fixture?

No, actually we’re a new team. We needed some time to gel and slowly we’re getting there. We’re improving match by match and hopefully, in the future, we shall improve even more.

Bengaluru kept attacking you time and again, but the defence and yourself managed to keep them at bay. What are your thoughts on their attack?

Football is not about the goalkeeper and the defence. It’s about 11 vs 11, Jamshedpur versus Bengaluru. We defend as a team, we attack as a team and we play as a team. In football, there’s a saying, ‘It’s nothing about I, it’s all about we’. We played as a team and got the points today.
