After breezing past defending champions Chennaiyin FC on Thursday, Mumbai City FC will look to extend their six-match unbeaten run when they face table-toppers Bengaluru FC at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Sunday.
Ahead of the fixture, indiansuperleague.com caught up with Mumbai defender Subhasish Bose, who played for Bengaluru last season, for an exclusive interview. Here's what he had to say.
What is the mood in the camp like?
After five wins and one draw, we are now very confident. Everyone is doing good and we’re playing as a team together. Now there’s only one thing going on in our minds - to keep this momentum going.
Thoughts on your partnership with Lucian Goian.
The partnership is not only with one player. All of the four defenders and the goalkeeper are also doing a good job. Our combination is very good in the defence now. Goian is a very experienced player. His commitment and attitude towards the game have taught me a lot.
Who have you learnt the most from in the squad?
Paulo Machado. He has played at the highest level and there is a lot to learn from him and his leadership quality on and off the field.
Thoughts on head coach Jorge Costa.
He was a defender and he won the UEFA Champions League as a captain and there is a lot to learn from him. He teaches me how to defend and what I should do and not do on the ground.
How does it feel to return to play against Bengaluru FC?
I played there last season. The fans are very kind and very friendly and I’m very excited to go back there and play in front of those fans. But now, I’m going as a Mumbai player and we want to come back with the three points.
