Mumbai City FC ensured that they kick-started their Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 home campaign on a positive note after narrowly edging FC Goa in a thrilling 2-1 encounter. A defensive midfielder by trade, Mumbai’s Sehnaj Singh played at right-back in the absence of Aiborlang Khongjee and Davinder Singh. A tidy passing accuracy of 82% and a solid display at the back suggested the 24-year-old looked comfortable on the pitch. After the match, indiansuperleague.com caught up with Sehnaj for his thoughts on the game. Here are the excerpts.

Sehnaj, could you talk us through the entire game?

We already planned that we had to win tonight’s match anyhow. I think that everybody knew how important this game was. We had to give our best – more than 100 % on the field, and that’s why we got a good result in the end.

The fans are very special here, what do you have to say about them?

Thank you so much for coming in huge numbers because I didn’t think there’d be as big a crowd as this. I hope a huge crowd comes in the next match as well, and we’ll give our best (to get a good result).

Lastly, let’s talk about the next game. Being a derby, it will be a big game. What are your thoughts?

Yeah, I’m expecting it to be a tough game against my former team, FC Pune City. I hope we go out there and give it our best.
