Robin: We want to be in the final and lift the trophy

Delhi Dynamos FC beat FC Goa 1-0 in the first leg of their 2015 Hero Indian Super League (ISL) semi-final clash at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Friday. It was a closely-contested encounter between the two sides that saw a brilliant goal from Delhi’s attacking spearhead Robin Singh towards the end of the first half. The India striker spoke to indiansuperleague.com in an exclusive interview shortly after their 1-0 win. Here are the excerpts from the interview.

How important was this goal for you?

It was an important goal for the team. As far as my career is concerned, I’ve got a long one ahead of me and plenty more goals to score. And plenty more time to work hard and that is what I want to focus on.

Do you think more goals could have been scored tonight, given the chances?

We’ll always get chances but the good part here is we’re creating more chances. We’ve got one more semi-final game ahead of us. Also, we want to be in the final and lift the trophy. So let’s focus on that.

"Attack is the best way to do it. So that’s how we would want to play."

How difficult was it to bounce back from the loss against Goa in the last game of the league stage?

That just shows you the morale and the mental strength of the team. We lost a game 3-2 that we should have won and now we beat them 1-0. It’s all about the three points.

Will the team be taking a more defensive approach in the away game on December 15?

No, as we’ve maintained that we’re here to win the title. Attack is the best way to do it. So that’s how we would want to play.
