Robin Singh will be raring to get on the pitch when FC Goa take on Chennaiyin FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Thursday. The Indian international missed the Gaurs’ first two games of Hero Indian Super League 2016 due to injury. He scored four goals for Delhi Dynamos FC in Hero ISL 2015 and enjoyed a good pre-season with last season’s runners-up in the build-up to the third edition. The 26-year-old will be looking to change the fortunes of his side as they head into Thursday’s encounter against the reigning champions with the unwanted tag of being the only team yet to register a point this season. He spoke to indiansuperleague.com ahead of Goa’s match against the Super Machans. Here are the excerpts from the interview.First thing, the fans would like to know when they will see Robin Singh back on the pitch. Is there any update? The injury is getting better as we speak. Personally, I feel I am fit to play but it depends on the coaches and the doctors, what they say and want me to do.From a personal point of view, what are the goals you’ve set for yourself this season?I scored four goals last year, so I want to break that and go as high as I can. Personally that’s the goal. Also to play good football, enjoy the game and see FC Goa become champions.FC Goa were finalists last year and they have improved the squad for this season. How is the team shaping up?The team is great but we haven’t have had the best of starts. But the boys are ready to go, we are going to come out all guns blazing against Chennaiyin FC.You played for Delhi Dynamos FC last season and now you are with FC Goa. How different are Roberto Carlos and Zico as managers? As managers they are two different people completely. As a player it’s been an honour and a privilege to play for both of them. But as far as comparison is concerned, I am no one to do so. I am just happy to play for them and would like to continue as long as possible. Both Chennaiyin FC and FC Goa haven’t made a bright start to the season. How crucial is tomorrow’s game?Tomorrow’s game is crucial as I mentioned earlier we haven’t had the best of starts. Not only us but for Chennaiyin FC as well. So now it comes down to who wants it more. Personally speaking and on behalf of the boys, I can say we want this win. We want to get our wins in order and just want to play some good football, score some goals and play attacking football. Hopefully tomorrow is the day.
