Robin: Feels good to be back to winning ways

Delhi Dynamos FC moved on from their defeat against Mumbai City FC last week with a 1-0 victory against defending champions Atlético de Kolkata at the Salt Lake Stadium on Thursday evening. With their fourth win in six matches, the Lions moved up to second in the league table behind FC Pune City on goal difference. In an exclusive interview to indiansuperleague.com, Delhi striker Robin Singh analysed the Lions’ victory. Here are the excerpts.

Happy with the result?

Three points is what we came for, and that is quite exactly what we got. So, yes. Personally speaking, we didn’t want to feel the way we did in Mumbai. We were highly motivated and by god’s grace, we won. Thanks to Gustavo’s goal, we won.

You’re tied at 12 points with FC Pune City at the top of the table. How do you feel?

It’s a great feeling to be at the top. But it’s not over until the fat lady sings. I want us to be the champions this season. I hate to lose matches. So it feels good to be back to winning ways.

"I’ve managed to be in the right place at the right time."

A red card usually demoralizes the team. But your team today showed what it was made up of. Your thoughts on that?

Hats off to the boys! We took the red card on our chin and we just kept going and thankfully, by the end of the game, we got three points. We take it forward from here, focus on the next game at home, and thereafter.

Hope to get goals in the next match?

Yes, definitely. I’ve managed to be in the right place at the right time. But unfortunately, I haven’t been scoring. But you never know when that one goal would come. When it opens up, it opens up. I’m happy with my positioning as well. It could be better, definitely. So let’s look forward to the next game now.

Your next match, against NorthEast United, is at home. Excited at the prospect?

It’s always a great pleasure to play in Delhi, in front of the home crowd. We’re waiting for the NorthEast game. I’m sure the stadium is going to be packed after this game, so we can’t wait for the next one.
