Bengaluru FC are currently enjoying life in their maiden Hero Indian Super League (ISL) season. They currently occupy top spot in the table and are the only team to have secured qualification to the playoffs so far. The Blues will want to, however, maintain their momentum when they face Jamshedpur FC at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Sunday. Ahead of the contest, Indiansuperleague.com got in touch with Rahul Bheke, who has been an assuring presence in the Blues’ defence. Here are excerpts from the interview.

Talk us through life at Bengaluru FC.

I like the city and the fans very much, and the team management is very good and professional. The setup is very good for each and every player. All the Indian players are really growing over here, and all the management and players are learning from each other.

As a player, what has been the formula behind Bengaluru FC staying at the top of the table?

I think it’s the team unity and the way we play. I think that’s the secret. We are working throughout on the setup and the way we play the game. We all know our duties, and we are doing our part on the field.

Any words on the venue and the setup here at Bhubaneswar?

I think this will be a new experience for both teams and it will be like an away game for both teams. It will be a big game for both of us. We have won against every team in the ISL apart from Jamshedpur FC, so tomorrow will be a big challenge for us, and it’s a must-win game for them as well. We will give our best and try to get the three points.

Any personal goal for the remainder of the season?

The first aim will be to win the ISL, and later, we will focus on the Super Cup also. I want to perform well in the remaining games and get into the Indian national team.
