NorthEast United are flying high in the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) as they currently sit in second place with 18 points on the board. The next test for the Highlanders is the challenge of table-toppers Bengaluru FC on Wednesday.

Ahead of the tie, Provat Lakra spoke exclusively to indiansuperleague.com on his personal performances and on the prospect of facing Bengaluru. Here are the excerpts:

Thoughts on personal performance

I have played one match up till now. It was my first match for NorthEast United FC. It was nice to play, and I got some experience. I need to work harder, so I can play better. At times, I am not happy with my performance and I always think I can do better, and I try to build up confidence so I can perform better the next time.

How comfortable are you with your position in the team? Who is your favourite player?

I like Sergio Ramos. He is my favourite player. He wears jersey number 4 and even I wear jersey number 4.

NorthEast United FC are second in the league. Are you happy with the performance?

The team is second right now. I am happy to be a part of the team. We will try harder to stay at the top and qualify.

On facing Bengaluru FC

Obviously, Bengaluru FC are a strong team in India. I am getting a chance to play against them. So, it's a good experience for me and I am excited.

Any particular player from Bengaluru FC you need to watch out for? Do you have a game plan against them?

Obviously, Sunil Chhetri and Udanta Singh. No particular game plans, I just want to perform my best.
