Sanju Pradhan will be looking to get more minutes on the pitch when FC Pune City host Atlético de Kolkata in their 2016 Hero Indian Super League clash at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Balewadi on Sunday. The pacey winger has made four appearances for the orange army this season, two of which came off the bench. The 27-year-old has completed one successful tackle, one clearance, one key pass, two successful take-ons and three interceptions for the Stallions so far. Pradhan spoke to indiansuperleague.com ahead of the game against ATK. Here are the excerpts from the interview.
Are we going to see you register your first home win of the season tomorrow, against ATK?
Yeah, it’s not going great for us right now. That’s how I feel as a player but everything has ups and downs. This time everything is going down but I know the right day will also come, and I feel after the game against Kolkata things could go our way.
Your coach Antonio Habas knows your opponents very well, so what has his team talk been like?
They’re a really strong team, they have strong and good players so we have to give our best because if we win the next match then we’ll be in a good position. So we’re preparing really hard for it. Our coach has asked us to give our one hundred percent, so let’s see what the result is after ninety minutes.
Has there been any special training to put the ball in the back of the net?
Yeah definitely, in every practice we work really hard, we’re doing really well. Everyone is doing great in the practice session, so sometimes I feel luck is not on our side. I hope in the coming matches it favours us.
What do you think is ATK’s strength and how do you plan to counter that?
I think ATK have really good midfielders and an attacking line, I don’t think they have a good defence, so we can go for counter-attacks, and if we do that we can beat their defence.
