His start to the second season of the Hero Indian Super League was exhilarating but then injury put him out of action. However, former Portugal international Helder Postiga, Atletico de Kolkata’s marquee signing this season, is back from his country after rehabilitation. Fitness-wise, he is almost there. In an exclusive interview with indiansuperleague.com, the former Porto forward, who scored two match-winning goals against Chennaiyin FC in the 2015 ISL opener, spoke on a variety of subjects, from his injury to his experience of playing in India for the first time. Here are the excerpts. When you came to know about Hero ISL’s intentions to have you play in India, how did that make you feel?My first reaction was that of surprise! Because it’s a different country, a different mentality. I was very enthusiastic about coming to India. And now, I enjoy it out here! After scoring two goals in your first match, you got injured. How much of a setback was that for you as well as the team?Injuries are a passing phase in football. At this moment, I want to help my team in every way possible. I will try to recover in the fastest way possible."Currently, all I can say is that I’m liking it out here!"Helder PostigaAfter playing at big European clubs, you’ve come to India. What has been your impression so far? It’s good to see that people show a lot of passion here. The players and the league are learning, and hopefully in the next few years, Hero ISL develops to become a much better league. Are you comfortable with the shorter duration that this league offers? In a shorter league, there are more games and less time to recover when there is an injury. But people here come to see games on all days, on TVs, at the stadiums. Currently, all I can say is that I’m liking it out here!
