Mumbai City FC made it back-to-back wins on Sunday night in the 2015 Hero Indian Super League after beating table toppers FC Goa 2-0 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Frenchman Frederic Piquionne played an instrumental role in his side’s victory by scoring the second goal of the match which was also his second strike of the league. Piquionne spoke to indiansuperleague.com shortly after the match on Sunday evening and shared his thoughts on the game and the team’s campaign this season.
Climbing the goal scoring charts this season steadily. How does that make you feel?
I feel good. I feel good because tonight we needed three points. I missed one in the first half but my second one was spot on. We are happy with this game because we fight together, we stay like a team and now we have to be focused for the next game [vs NorthEast United FC).
"I think if we play like this and play with the same guys we are going to score again because we’re too good.."
Frederic PiquionneTwo successive wins at home. What is the mood in the dressing room like at present?
Stay focused, fighting for the team, fighting for the people as well because we need the fans coming to support us and stay like a team because we need everyone. You saw from the beginning of the season we rotated every time, but the team is playing as well as everyone is playing so now we have to concentrate towards the next game because if we lose we have to forget these two wins so I hope we are going to win the next one.
Your thoughts on sharing duties with Sony Norde and Sunil Chhetri up front?
They are good players, I think they are clever, we need to be more clever when we go on the counter attack, the last pass has to be more good and so we saw in the game, Sunil gave me one superb pass but I missed it. I think if we play like this and play with the same guys we are going to score again because we’re too good.
