Stephen Pearson scored an important goal to help Atlético de Kolkata clinch a point from their home tie against Kerala Blasters FC at the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium in Kolkata on Tuesday evening. CK Vineeth put Kerala ahead in the eighth minute before Pearson equalised for the hosts 10 minutes later. With the 1-1 result at the final whistle, ATK secured themselves a spot in the semi-finals, becoming the first team to have done it in all three editions of the Hero ISL so far. Scottish midfielder Pearson, who scored his second goal this season on Tuesday evening, spoke to indiansuperleague.com after the match and shared his thoughts. Here are the excerpts from the interview. Are you happy with today’s result?Yeah, we are delighted to have got the point and secure our place in the semi-finals. We are delighted that we have achieved our goal we set at the start of the season.Which team would you like to face in the semi-finals?It doesn’t really matter to us. We only focus on ourselves and prepare for each game. We will see what happens and who we will play. We have another game against Pune, where we want to finish off on a high and get three points. What are your thoughts on your own performance today?I’m pleased to have scored the goal. It was a very tough game as Kerala are in a good run of form, so I think a point is a fair result in the end, and it was enough to see us through to the semi-finals.
