Kerala Blasters FC face a tough challenge on Sunday when they host in-form FC Goa at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi. David James’ men will be looking for their first victory at home this season and will be hoping to bag a victory in what will be the last Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) match before the second international break of the season begins.

Ahead of the fixture, indiansuperleague.com got a chance to chat with Kerala’s Serbian defender Nemanja Lakic-Pesic. Here are the excerpts.

Thoughts on facing Ferran Corominas.

There is no special plan for him or for any other player. There is only team play. If we, as a team, play well defensively, Coro or whichever striker we play against shouldn’t be a problem. Everyone has to do their job well in defence.

Is the team doing anything differently in defence?

Like I said, we played good defensively but there were some very unlucky goals. There were some goals from 30 metres so sometimes those kinds of shots you cannot stop. They just happen but we will train much harder, we will do more things to improve in defence and hopefully, we will stop conceding those kinds of goals.

Thoughts on the match against FC Goa.

Like you saw last week, unfortunately, we lost against Bengaluru FC. I’m sure that we didn’t deserve to lose that game. There were some unfortunate goals like own goals that we conceded but in this match, we will go in with much more desire to win because now we need to win. We had some not so good results, so we need to start getting points. In this match, we need to do whatever we can to win this match.

Thoughts on playing in the Hero ISL.

I like it here, really. Since I’m here for the second year that means that I like it here. If I didn’t like it in the first season, I wouldn’t come back. For me, everything is great here. I like the organization of the league, the organization of the clubs, of everything. I really enjoy this.

Thoughts on how Kerala Blasters have evolved from last season.

We can say that we are much much better as a team, as a club. We can see that every team is evolving into a better club every year. So yes, Kerala Blasters FC as a club is much better. It’s better than last season and probably next season we’ll be better than this one.
