FC Goa have been one of the standout performers of Hero Indian Super League 2018-19 (ISL). The Gaurs have picked up 10 points from a possible 12 and lead the goalscoring charts with 14 goals.

Ahead of the highly-anticipated encounter against Jamshedpur on Thursday, goalkeeper Mohammad Nawaz spoke exclusively to indiansuperleague.com on his performances this campaign and the confidence which has been instilled in him by coach Sergio Lobera. Here are the excerpts:

The coach has shown confidence over you over the other keepers. Is there any pressure over you?

For me, there is no pressure because from the first day I am confident enough that if I get a chance I will play well as I have thought about this from the first day. So, there is pressure because there is competition with the other teammates and seniors. I am giving my best as I am gaining confidence as the head coach is supporting me. So, I am confident enough to play.

On playing against Jamshedpur FC

They're a good team.  They play good attacking football and I think we are better than them. So, what we have to do is just focus on our defence and not make any mistakes. That's it, we will try not to do any mistakes and avoid conceding goals.

How confident are you with FC Goa's performance?

We are feeling very confident. In the upcoming matches, we will try to be on top and we are doing really well, and we are looking forward to the match and to be on the top of the table.

On playing his first Hero ISL season

It feels good to play with all the senior players like Ahmed Jahouh, Ferran Corominas, Jackichand Singh and many players. I feel very lucky and happy. I learnt a lot from the past four matches. Small things, big things and I have learnt a lot, so I am in the learning curve.
