FC Goa welcome a wounded Mumbai City FC in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa on Sunday. Though the hosts have been prolific in attack, they are yet to pick up a clean sheet this season. Local boy Mohamed Ali has been a shining star in the Gaurs setup and was rewarded with a contract extension recently. In an exclusive interview with indiansuperleague.com, the 25-year-old defender shared his thoughts on the upcoming fixture and more. Here are the excerpts.

How did you enter the world of football and how’s the journey been so far?

I started playing football at a very young age. When I was very small, I was already on the field looking at the guys playing. I picked up from there slowly and that’s where it all started.

How has your experience been working with Sergio Lobera?

It’s my first time under a foreign coach. It’s been really amazing and I’ve improved a lot.

FC Goa have scored a lot of goals but have not been able to keep clean sheets. What’s your take on that?

Yes, we’ve scored amazing goals but have conceded very silly ones. We’re working on it and hopefully, we’ll keep a clean sheet soon.

Congratulations on the contract extension! Tell us about your experience with FC Goa?

It’s amazing signing with FC Goa. After all, this is my hometown, so playing here is very good. The fans and the atmosphere are amazing, so I chose to stay here.

Your views on the upcoming game?

We will try to keep a clean sheet and we have to get the title this time, at any cost.

Any message for the fans?

Keep up the support and the trust. Keep supporting the way you’ll have. Come in large numbers and we will give you the victory.
