Atlético de Kolkata defensive midfielder Rakesh Masih put in a good shift in the middle of the park as his side held Delhi Dynamos FC to a goalless draw in the national capital on Tuesday night. The strapping Punjab-born player, who can also fit in as a central defender, schooled both at the Mahalpur Academy at home and the Tata Football Academy in Jamshedpur and made his name in the Kolkata maidan playing for Mohun Bagan.Masih has appeared in six of his new franchise club’s games in the Hero Indian Super League, not all as a starter. The 27-year-old former Indian international caught up with indiansuperleague.com soon after the final whistle to share his insights into the drawn game:What did you think about your team’s performance tonight?I think we played well, we created many chances in the first half and the second half and our defence was also well organised. We’re happy that we got a point in an away game.It was very important for your side to win this match but it ended in a draw; are you satisfied? It wasn’t just the coach who was telling us that we need to win this match but we ourselves wanted to win it. There is an 80 per cent chance that we can still make the play offs. It was an away game and a tough one and it was also important for Delhi to win this game. We will do much better in our next game against Mumbai and take three points. What is the strategy of the team for the remaining two games? It’s up to the coach to decide. The point is that the teams at the bottom (of the league) are also coming up and the next two games are also ‘do or die’ (for us). What are your team’s strength and weakness?I think our strength is that we’re well organised at the back and I think our weakness is not converting the chances we create up front; everything else is solid. Is there a player in your team whom you admire? It’s Fikru (Teferra), he’s a very good player but I think he’s not been in good form since the last two games.
