British defender Marcus Williams is playing his first Hero Indian Super League this season and has been very impressive for Kerala Blasters FC in the four matches he has played so far. On the eve of their away match against FC Pune City at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Pune, Marcus spoke to indiansuperleague.com and discussed a variety of subjects. Here are the excerpts from the interview.

This is the first time you are playing outside the UK, how different is it here in India?

I am very much enjoying it. The experience is going very well. Obviously when I first came out here, adjusting to the weather was tough. Other than that, I have been training well and everyone has been very welcoming, so it’s been great. Good journey so far.

Any different training strategy being tried to ensure the right results?

Yes, we are always working on different types of tactics and we assess the opponents. We are playing Pune now and so we will be looking at their strengths and weaknesses and where we can hurt them. We work hard in training, so I hope we can go and get the right result tomorrow.

FC Pune City have a host of good attacking players. What strategy is being formulated to deal with them?

I think everybody just makes sure they do the job. We’ve conceded some disappointing goals and hope that we can do better. I’m sure the whole team is working hard to get the right results. Not just the players who are on the pitch but even the players who are coming on in games and the players who may be sitting out a certain game. People are going to get called into games and we have to be ready. We know the games are coming thick and fast so obviously we are preparing ourselves in the best way possible.

You are accustomed to playing in front of packed crowds at home. Looking forward to some away support too?

Yes, absolutely. I think the fans have been absolutely fantastic. They’ve stood by us even though the results haven’t gone our way. Even in our last game, the support was fantastic all the way through. It was disappointing we could not get the result especially for them. On behalf of the team, I want to personally thank the fans for their incredible support. Especially the ones that travel to the away games. It’s been absolutely and incredible support all around.
