FC Pune City were left heartbroken after conceding a late goal to Chennaiyin FC in the dying moments of their Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 game at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium on Sunday. Having scored a goal and provided an assist so far, Pune’s Spanish midfielder Marcos Tebar wasn’t able to add to his tally. He shared his thoughts with indiansuperleague.com after the game. Here are the excerpts.
Hard luck Marcos, talk us through the game.
I think we played the better game. We decided to win. In the first half, we control the ball, we control the tempo and they just defended. It’s bad luck, we didn’t get the goals, we concede one and that’s it.
Do you think Chennai were slightly fresher?
Maybe that helped a little bit, second half maybe. As I said, we were much better than them. We have to keep going, have to keep working hard.
You’ll have two wins and two losses – would you say it’s been a mixed start?
It’s hard to say. As I said, this game we were well on top and now we have six and they (Chennai) have six points also.
You’ve scored a goal and provided an assist this season – how do you see your form coming along this league?
I feel well. I feel I’ve been improving... I like to play every single game and I’d like to help my team win the league.
The fans have been amazing – any messages for them?
They support us every game. We didn’t get the three points for them. We have to take three points in the next game.
