FC Goa demolished Delhi Dynamos FC by a 5-1 margin at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi on Saturday, to go to the top of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 table. The Spanish contingent of the visitors weaved their magic again with Ferran Corominas, Manuel Lanzarote, Adrian Colunga and Manuel Arana finding their names on the scoresheet, assisted by Pritam Kotal’s own goal. Goa’s talented midfielder Mandar Rao Dessai spoke to indiansuperleague.com after the match to share his views on the game. Here are the excerpts from the interview.
Your thoughts on the game?
It’s the third away game we played and yes, we wanted to win this game in order to be on top of the table. We have done it and all of us are very happy.
How does it feel to go to the top of the table?
We have been winning games, so it’s a good run for us, I guess. We have to continue this until the end of the season.
Your thoughts on your Spanish teammates this season?
All the players who are playing are really great and they have been motivating us, helping us to build our confidence and build up our game, as well. So yes, we are getting used to them and it turns into a good result for us.
What according to you is the secret behind the quick goals Goa score?
When we score goals, we don’t go behind and keep playing (at the back). We want to score more and more goals. Doesn’t matter if we concede also, we try to score more goals and we did this in all the games and we’ll do so in the next games, too.
