Debjit Majumder has played every minute of Atlético de Kolkata’s Hero Indian Super League 2016 campaign and will be targeting his eighth start of the season when they face FC Pune City at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Balewadi on Sunday. Majumder has made 15 saves and kept two clean sheets in ATK’s seven matches so far. The 28-year-old shot-stopper is also a good distributor of the ball as his 76% passing accuracy goes to show. He is confident with the ball at his feet, making him perfect for ATK, who love to build attacks from the back by playing the ball out of defence. Majumder spoke to indiansuperleague.com ahead of the clash against Pune City. Here are the excerpts from the interview.You have had some good performances so far. How does it feel to be a goalkeeper and play against some really good strikers in the ISL?I’m feeling very good because I’ve been trying to play better and better in the third season of the ISL. It feels nice to be playing against these strikers and other players, both Indians and foreigners, and I will keep trying to perform even better.You are going to play against FC Pune City now and they have not won at their home yet, so they will be very motivated for the game. How are you going to tackle them?Just because they haven’t won a game at home doesn’t mean that they’re not good at home. It’s just that they have been unfortunate. Every team in the ISL is good, so we have to look at the game as every other game we play and try to win. In whatever way the coach instructs us, we’ll try to perform.Is there any specific strategy for tomorrow’s game?Strategy will be decided by the coach but we just focus on one thing, that it doesn’t matter to us whether we play at home or away, we will give our best and try to win, so tomorrow also we will try to win and get those three points.And lastly, who is your best friend in the team?In our team everyone is my friend, both foreigners and Indians. There is nobody in particular. All of us live together, so it’s not like we spend time with only one person. All of us spend time with each other and have fun. Pritam [Kotal] is there with me mostly, but all of us are together for the majority of the time.
