Delhi Dynamos FC spearhead Mads Junker finally hit the target today with a flying header, his side’s second goal, as the hosts humbled Chennaiyin FC 4-1 in the national capital today. The 33-year-old former Danish international striker who earned seven caps for his country, has extensive playing experience in the Danish Superliga. He has also played in the Netherlands and Belgium for the likes of Vitesse Arnhem, Roda JC and KV Mechelen.Junker represented Denmark at the under-19, under-20 and under-21 levels before making his debut for the senior team in 2006 in a friendly against Poland. He once scored against Germany in a 2-2 tie at Copenhagen in August 2010. Junker shared his impression of the today’s famous win in a conversation with Indiansuperleague.com. Here are some excerpts:This was the first win for the Dynamos, what do you think made the difference?I think we had a really good start, everybody was really confident and the goal from Wim (Raymaekers) was superb and it lifted us.You also scored your first goal in the ISL so how do you feel?It felt really nice and it was important because going 2-0 up at half-time is a very commanding position to be in. It felt really good and I wish I could score more often. How are you gelling with the Delhi Dynamos philosophy?I’m gelling really well, I think it’s because I know the trainer for the past five years and also because we play good football and try to score goals as you saw today. What does the coach Harm van Veldhoven want from you as a player?Goals, since I’m a striker, but also I think he wants me to be a person who fights for the team and also play for each other.Do you think this was the real Delhi Dynamos that showed up today? To be honest, I don’t think we played to our potential, I think we can play much better. We scored four goals today which is definitely a good thing, Chennai won their first two games so they’re a really good team in this league. What do you think about the young Indian players in your team? They’re doing really well, they’re developing all the time as you saw today. Steven’s (Dias) cross was sublime for my goal so I think they’re definitely important players for this team.
