NorthEast United FC’s top scorer in the Hero Indian Super League, Sergio Contreras Pardo, better known as Koke, played a starring role as the Highlanders came from behind twice to earn themselves a 2-2 draw against Chennaiyin FC. Koke scored the last goal of the match with a thumping volley to help his side share honours and move up to fourth on the table. The charismatic Spanish playmaker has one assist and three goals to his name thus far in this tournament. He was obviously very happy with the tie at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai today. The former Málaga and Marseille man spoke to indiansuperleague.com soon after the match. Here are some excerpts from an exclusive interview:Koke, you scored a fabulous goal. Congratulations! What are your thoughts on the game?It was a very tight match. We came back from behind and we could have gone and won the game, but I am happy with the draw at this point. Everyone is happy with the result but we must be ready for the next game.Could your team have done slightly better in today’s game?I think the game was pretty good, we distributed and we tried to win at the end, but the other team also played well, so I believe the draw was the best result today.Do you think you can replicate your superb away form at home?Having played so well on our travels, we must just aim to win all our matches at home with the support of our fans. And I feel that if we do win all our home games, we will definitely qualify for the top four. You scored your third goal of the Hero Indian Super League. How does it feel? For a striker or a No. 10 like me, the most important thing is to score. It is the most beautiful thing about football but the most important thing today was that we got that one point and I’m also happy that I scored. What lies ahead for NorthEast United FC?I think we give everything when we play and we want to win. We have proved that our football is really attractive because we play attacking football. To be honest, our team is very young and we are doing good work which we must continue. And if we continue this way and win at home we will be in the top four.
