Chennaiyin FC played out a 0-0 draw against Kerala Blasters FC in their 2016 Hero Indian Super League match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Saturday. It was the Super Machans’ third clean sheet of the season and kept them fourth in the table on nine points from six matches. Centre-back Bernard Mendy and shot-stopper Karanjit Singh, who has been between the sticks for all three of Chennai’s clean sheets this season, spoke to indiansuperleague.com shortly after the match. Here are the excerpts from the interview.Do you think it’s a fair result, Bernard?Yeah, I think it’s a fair result, of course when you play at home you want to win every game. I think today both teams were very good, in the end I thought we could do better but one point is not a bad result.Karanjit, you made quite a few good saves today. Have you been working hard in training, is there something particular you have been doing? It’s all about hard work and concentration. I am very happy if I help my team and I’m happy because we kept a clean sheet. I want to thank all the players in the team especially the defenders.Bernard, any lessons from the game as it was a tough one…Yeah it’s a derby, and in such games things can get heated up like you saw at the end of the match, it’s like a war on the pitch. For such games, you must give everything on the pitch, it doesn’t matter if you play well or not it’s a war and derbies are like this.Tempers were flying in the end. Bernard, do you think it was because of the high intensity in both camps?Yeah of course, derbies are always like this everywhere in the world.Karanjit, what plans do you have for the next game?We would need to work on our concentration and look to win our next match because after that we are playing two away matches. So we will look to get three points and climb up the table, so we will go for the win.
