Delhi Dynamos FC started off their Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 campaign with a thrilling 3-2 victory away to FC Pune City, and will travel next to the Sree Kanteerava Stadium to face the home team Bengaluru FC on Sunday. The Blues were impressive in their opening fixture, where they bagged maximum points in a 2-0 win over Mumbai City FC. With the match just around the corner, indiansuperleague.com caught up with one of Delhi’s most influential attackers, Kalu Uche, who shared his thoughts on his team and the matches. Here are the excerpts.

It was a thrilling start to the season. What are your thoughts on the match against FC Pune City?

I am so encouraged by the performance of the team! It wasn’t an easy game, it was difficult. We are happy that we came away victorious with three points. The team performed really well, and I am so happy to be a part of it! I am so impressed, and I hope we continue with the good form.

Was there any point in time when you felt that you might have had to share the spoils with FC Pune City?

In football, you can never tell what’s going to happen in the next minute. When we were leading, I had the confidence that we were going to go home with the three points because of the way we were playing and the way we were defending. Pune was coming and attacking, trying to comeback, but we didn’t let them get back. We conceded the second goal only in the last minute, so I’m happy that we ended up winning the game. The team performed really well so I wasn’t scared even at the last minute.

What are your thoughts on the emerging players from your team?

I don’t know how to express how I feel about them, but I’m so happy with the performance of the young players in the team. The coaches are doing a very, very good job with the young players. They (the players) respond very well to how the coaching team wants to play and honestly, they are amazing.

What are your thoughts on the next fixture against Bengaluru FC?

Every game is important and different. We are preparing and we are getting ready for the game against Bengaluru. Let’s just wait and see what happens on Sunday.
