NorthEast United FC’s poor run of form continued in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 as they succumbed to their fourth straight loss at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Pune on Saturday. Hosts FC Pune City cantered to a comfortable 5-0 win, while the Highlanders again failed to score from favourable opportunities. Post a frustrating 90 minutes for the visitors, NorthEast’s captain for the night Jose Goncalves spoke to indiansuperleague.com regarding the match. Here are the excerpts.
Your thoughts on the game?
It was a difficult game. What can I say? It was a bad game for us.
What do you think was the down-point today?
It’s very difficult when you concede a goal very early. After you make some mistakes and when you are already 2-3 goals down by half-time, it is very difficult to win a football game.
According to you, what improvements need to be made?
Right now, I would say every part. We must improve defending, attacking and every part because it’s not only one point but all the points. We must look at each other, work harder and change this as quickly as possible.
What did you make of Marcinho’s performance?
Like I said, we did have issues in the game. We all wanted to score, but sadly it didn’t happen, and now we must move on to the next one.
