Johnson: We let ourselves down

Following the 3-1 defeat against Delhi Dynamos FC in their Hero Indian Super League Season 2 encounter at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Thursday evening, FC Pune City, for the first time this season, looked to be in a spot of bother as regards their semi-final chances. Stallions defender Roger Johnson spoke to indiansuperleague.com shortly after the match and discussed the repercussions of the defeat at the hands of the Lions. Here are the excerpts of the match.

What are your comments on the overall performance of Pune today?

Not good enough, I’ll say. We let ourselves down. It’s the first time we’ve been at the end of a result like that. I’m thoroughly disappointed.

"We’re up against the wall for having conceded from two set-pieces."

Was it their domination of the first half that created problems?

We started okay, but then we went on to concede from a few set-pieces. We lost pace, and failed to create anything. We were defending for most of the game.

According to you, what is required of Pune now to start getting favourable away results?

You’re right, our away form hasn’t been good at all. The longer that goes on, the harder it’s going to be. To put it right, with three games left, we need to win at least two of them. Otherwise, we’ll find ourselves going home. We have only ourselves to blame. We weren’t good enough from start to finish. We’re up against the wall for having conceded from two set-pieces.
