Chennaiyin FC had a chance to go on top of the Hero Indian Super League charts but their efforts were thwarted by a resilient NorthEast United FC who held them to a thrilling 2-2 draw. After the match, indiansuperleague.com caught up with Chennaiyin FC’s young Indian international Jeje Lalpekhlua for an exclusive interview. The 23-year-old Mizo forward started the game along with Colombian Stiven Mendoza in the attack before both were replaced by fresher strikers in the second half as the home side went all out to secure victory. Jeje, who is playing in the ISL on loan from Mohun Bagan, has one goal to his credit in the tournament. Here are some excerpts from that interview:Jeje, your thoughts on the game?It was a tough match. We were hoping to get all three points, but such things happen in football, and one point seems to be a good result. It’s the second game in which you have lost two points towards the end, so how can your team improve on this? It’s true we have to improve, but like I said, this is football and such things happen in the game. We have to try and win our upcoming match (away against FC Pune City on November 11) now. We have to concentrate on the next match.Where do you think the game was won or lost for your team?I can’t say, because it is difficult to play two games in five days. It’s tough on the team. The coach was talking about rotation and keeping players fit. How do you think that has an impact on this performance?Recovery is a very important part of the preparation, given the schedule we have to take care of ourselves, and the coach keeps that in mind.Your message to the fans who keep coming and supporting your team? The fans are very important and without them we cannot go on, we need the support of our fans. I think we can improve our performance in our next match, so I say to them, please come and support us!
