Chennaiyin FC secured their third consecutive win in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 on Thursday after beating defending champions ATK 3-2 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai. Shortly after the closely-fought encounter, indiansuperleague.com caught up with ‘Hero of the Match’ Jeje Lalpekhlua, who opened his account for the season with two crucial goals, that nullified ATK’s double-equalising attempts. Your thoughts on the match?

It was a difficult game but we played well. Getting the three points was very important for us.

What are your views on your performance today?

Yes, I finally scored a goal, but according to me, the most important thing was the victory.

What are the positives you take from the game?

We need to play the same game but work harder. We made a lot of mistakes but we need to learn from them and come back stronger.

Did you expect this kind of a comeback from your team after losing the first match?

In this league, you can’t relax at the top of the table, but I hope we get better. I hope we can keep the momentum (going).

Do you feel the pressure of leading the line?

For a striker, scoring the goal is important, but for me the most important thing is the team winning.
