Jayesh Rane and Chennayin FC will be hoping to return to winning ways when they take on FC Pune City at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai in a crucial Hero Indian Super League 2016 encounter on Tuesday. Chennai head into the contest with 10 points from nine matches and know that a win against Pune will see them move closer to the top 4. Jayesh has looked lively for the Super Machans this year and has added teeth to their frontline. The 23-year-old, who became the first domestic scorer in Hero ISL 2016 after netting against Atlético de Kolkata, spoke exclusively to indiansuperleague.com ahead of the game. Here are the excerpts from the interview.Chennai is back home after two heavy defeats at Delhi and Kerala, so how is the mood in the camp like?Everyone knows that we have to do better now and forget whatever has happened in the past games. We must look forward to the games coming up, everyone is focused. In stark contrast to Chennai’s form, Pune have had two consecutive victories, so what kind of a game are you expecting tomorrow?Obviously, it’s going to be a tough game, the last time we played against them it was a draw. We were leading but then they pulled it back. In ISL, every match is a tough game so it will be a very good game for the spectators to watch as well. You’ve played under Marco Materazzi for three seasons now. How have you developed as a player during that time? There have been many changes in me, but the most important change there has been is the confidence that I have gained. As a player, what are the personal goals you’ve set for yourself this season? My personal goals apart from winning the league has been starting the matches and not getting injured. Also, defending our title but now we have to focus on winning the next game and getting through to the semi-finals.
