FC Goa completely dominated Kerala Blasters FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa on Saturday to register a resplendent 5-2 victory on home soil, as Ferran Corominas and Manuel Lanzarote lay bare Kerala’s defensive deficiencies. After the seven-goal encounter, indiansuperleague.com caught up with the Kerala’s pacey winger Jackichand Singh, who scored his first Hero Indian Super League 2017-18 goal and also assisted Mark Sifneos. Here are the excerpts.
Your thoughts on the match?
We had bad luck tonight. Our start was good but then (Dimitar) Berbatov was injured and our confidence went down.
What was your strategy when you entered the second half?
When it was 2-2 (at the half-time mark), we wanted to perform at the same level in the second half. We tried our best in the second half but then, we conceded the goal and the team’s morale dropped.
How difficult was it to create attacking chances?
I was lucky enough to get on the scoresheet. It was my first goal of the season and I managed an assist too. But we didn’t get the three points and we are unhappy.
How will your confidence be for the next games?
The league is long and we have to try and work harder and increase our level of performance against NorthEast United, where we’ll try to get the three points.
