After the announcement of Eidur Gudjohnsen as FC Pune City’s marquee player for Hero ISL 2016 the Stallions fan base has been buzzing with excitement. The former Barcelona and Chelsea striker comes as a huge boost to an FC Pune City attack that managed to score only 17 goals in 14 matches last season.Gudjohnsen has won the Premier League, La Liga and UEFA Champions League crowns over the course of his glittering career and is certain the bring a winning mentality to Antonio Habas’ men, who are presently training in Spain. The veteran striker, who was last seen in action with his country Iceland in Euro 2016, took to Facebook to answer questions from FC Pune City fans during a live session. Here are some of the best. How excited are you about coming to India?Yeah, very excited, it’s a good opportunity now to be part of the pre-season here in Spain but obviously we’re working here to prepare ourselves for the season and it’ll be an exciting challenge. What are your initial thoughts about the FC Pune City squad?Very good, we’re working very hard. We have a good mixture of foreign players with Indian players, we’re preparing ourselves well, we’re working at a very high rate and hopefully everything will be in place at the start of the ISL.What was the secret behind Iceland's quarter-final success at Euro 2016?Great balance in the team, everybody working for each other, everybody giving 100 percent, great respect for each other and we managed to develop great team spirit with great management. The fans were fantastic; they gave us a lot of energy as well, and when you have all these small pieces in place, then a puzzle comes together.Do you think FC Pune City can do this ISL season what Iceland did in Euro 2016?Well, I think if we work hard, if we respect each other, if we get the best out of each other as a team, then a lot of things are possible. Like I said, we’re using the time now to find the right balance and we have make to make sure we are prepared. If we give it everything, we will go as far as we deserve.Which is the best goal you have scored in your career?I have been lucky to have scored a few nice ones. I think my overhead kick against Leeds (United) many years ago was one of the best.Who is the toughest defender you’ve faced in your career?I think Sol Campbell was always very tough, he was very strong and quick but there are many more I can name. How was it playing with the great Ronaldinho in his prime? It was an amazing experience, I think he’s talented beyond normal standards, he’s a great person, just a joy to be around on and off the pitch.Which is the most memorable moment of your career?I’ve had many memorable moments, from my first international game to the Euros in France to winning trophies with Chelsea, playing for Barcelona, seeing the world, going to China, all interesting experiences. Going back to Bolton Wanderers where I started off in England…I have many memorable moments. Is there some hidden meaning to your goal celebration? Not really, I think it’s something I saw many years ago and I found it nice. I think it’s quite cool and more like a gift from me to the fans.
