Atlético de Kolkata moved a step closer to making the 2015 Hero Indian Super League semi-finals with a spirited 2-1 win over Chennaiyin FC at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Wednesday. The hosts fell behind before scoring twice to do the double over the Super Machans this season. Iain Hume scored the winning goal, making it five for the season. The Canadian striker spoke to indiansuperleague.com after the game and discussed his and his team’s performance. Here are the excerpts from the interview.Seventeen points from 11 games and now second in the table. What are your thoughts on that?A great result, it’s always hard playing against Chennai. The way Marco [Materazzi] has got his team playing, they’re aggressive and they play with belief, they have got some top players there. We knew it was going to be hard. To go down 1-0 wasn’t exactly to plan but I think at the end of the day they’ve only had half chances. I think we defended ever so well and disappointed not to get that clean sheet that everyone talks about but at the end of the day we’ve got three points and we’re pushing on. We have got three big games to go and to get the win here was important but we’re going to keep pushing.A win at home after a while, it must feel good?Yeah, we haven’t won here since the first game against Kerala so it’s been disappointing up until tonight but again the guys worked ever so hard today. I think at the end of it, okay possession-wise they may have just edged it but realistically we deserved the three points if I’m honest. We’ve put in the effort…The table is not telling the truth at the moment with them at the bottom there, they are a top side, let’s not beat around the bush. They are a top side and to get three points against them was a top result for us."We have got three games left, we just look at the next 90 minutes."Iain HumeYour thoughts on getting a winner and receiving a standing ovation from the crowd?Yeah, it’s amazing to score my first goal here. I’ve scored five goals now and it’s my first one here so to do that here and get the three points is brilliant, the reception was just an added bonus. Is it now a daunting task to go up against league-leaders FC Goa, after their 7-0 rout of Mumbai City FC?Don’t get me wrong, it’s an unbelievable performance for them and a result for them but it’s not our problem at the end of the day. We had Chennai tonight, very tough game against a good side we’ve come away with the three points so it’s back to the drawing board. The coach is going to sit down with his game plan for the next game so we’ll work on what we need to work on. We went to Goa at the start of the season and we did quite well and came away with a point and now we’re in the position we are now. We have got three games left, we just look at the next 90 minutes. They are a top side coming here, they have got some good players, they’re in a good vein of form but we’ll just go on with our game plan and see what happens.
