Atlético de Kolkata and Chennaiyin FC were involved in an entertaining 2016 Hero ISL 2-2 draw at the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium in Kolkata on Sunday evening. It was a pulsating encounter in which ATK took the lead through Sameehg Doutie near the hour mark before two quick goals from Jayesh Rane and Hans Mulder put Chennaiyin ahead. Kolkata’s top-scorer from last season, Iain Hume rescued a point for his side from the penalty spot late on as it ended all square. The Canadian striker spoke to indiansuperleague.com after the match and assessed the game. Here are the excerpts from the interview.ATK’s first match in the new stadium. What are your initial thoughts?I’m amazed at the amount of work the people have done because I’ve seen pictures of it over the last couple of weeks and what they’ve done is nothing short of a miracle. And then getting rain in the afternoon puts a massive spanner in the works. In fairness, it held up. It’s not the best, it’s not as good as Salt Lake but hey, can’t argue game was on, another 90 minutes. We would have wanted a bit more from the game but we started off against the champions so with a point we’ll move on to the next game.What are your thoughts on the topsy-turvy nature of the game?We conceded two sloppy goals. One goal, three guys against six at the back and somehow they got through and another one is a massive deflection. Obviously you don’t take a shot, you don’t score so they’ve taken their shot. Obviously they hit the bar in the first half but they didn’t trouble us as much as we thought they would. But good start, at the end of the day with not good conditions, tough game against a good team. We’ve got Kerala Blasters FC now, not going to be an easy game in front of 60,000 people on Wednesday. We move on, we travel tomorrow and we get going again.What about you, first game of the season and then that goal?I probably should have scored earlier but we’ve had chances. Both myself and Helder Postiga. Doutie got his chance, he scored. We had a few chances, we probably should have had more than two. But as you said off the mark… penalty, keeper nearly got it but ended up in the back of the net. Now we just move on. It’s nice to get off the mark. Got 13 games to hopefully look to be involved in and then hopefully add to that and get some more points on the board.
