FC Goa is geared up to host defending champions ATK at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa on Wednesday in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18. The Gaurs returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion after defeating a formidable FC Pune City side 4 – 0 in their previous encounter, where they also picked up their first clean sheet of the season. A player who has had a major impact in their recent games is the French midfielder Hugo Boumous. He has put in a stellar show ever since his mid-season signing and was absolutely deathly against Pune. On the eve of the match, the 22-year-old spoke to indiansuperleague.com and shared his thoughts on the game and beyond. Here are the excerpts.

What do you think changed for the team in the last game against Pune?

I think in the last game we played together. There was a lot of dynamic in the team. We believed in our game and our football. If we play like this, we are the best and we can win every game.

Can we expect you to score another goal against ATK?

I hope I will score. But first, I hope that the team would win tomorrow and get the three points.

What are your thoughts about making it to the playoffs?

It will be very exciting to get into the playoffs. It is our goal and we have to get in. So, tomorrow against ATK and then against Jamshedpur FC, we are very determined to get three points in each.

Your thoughts on your partnership with Ahmed Jahouh and Ferran Corominas?

Coro (Corominas) is a very good striker. He has scored 15 goals this season and is the top-scorer in the league currently. So, it is easy for me to play with that kind of a player. And Jahouh works very hard in midfield. He sees a lot of the ball and feeds me and the strikers with good passes.

Jahouh will be missing tomorrow. How will it affect the gameplay?

It is difficult for us because he is very important for the team. But, we have other good players in midfield like Edu (Bedia) and Pronay (Halder). Pronay showed in the last match that he can be a very good player in our team. Edu also is a hard worker.
