Table toppers Bengaluru FC will go up against NorthEast United FC at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on Wednesday. The Blues are undefeated this season and have won their last six matches on a trot. However, they will face a tough test against the Highlanders, who have been impressive under head coach Eelco Schattorie this season.

Ahead of the fixture, indiansuperleague.com caught up with Bengaluru's Harmanjot Khabra for an exclusive interview. Here are the excerpts.

Thoughts on the season so far.

I think, as a team, we are doing well and we have played just eight matches. There's a long way to go. As for my role, I'm trying to do the best for my team. I am playing wherever coach asks me to play, and I think that is the best effort I can put in for the team. I’m trying to do that.

Thoughts on Carles Cuadrat’s style of play.

As you have seen on the field, every player has freedom. He has been there with the team last season and we are lucky that we have him as a coach again. He gives freedom to each and every player in a particular zone and gives them confidence to play at their best. That is the key to the performances of the team.

What, do you think, sets your team apart from the rest?

The biggest difference is the dressing room, the captain Sunil Chhetri. He’s doing great and we have a good understanding among ourselves. We’re enjoying every training and we are trying to reach something. Even if we have something to ask from the staff, from the coach or management, everybody is included in that. I think the credit goes to everyone there.

How comfortable is the team playing away from home?

We don’t think much about where we are playing. We only concentrate on how we’re going to perform and what’s the best we can do.

Thoughts on NorthEast United FC.

They’re doing very good this season and they have a good team. I think they are one of the toughest opponents in Hero ISL. They are fighters, they have a good plan. This is one of the biggest tests for Bengaluru FC.
