Chennaiyin FC will look to avenge their 3-1 defeat earlier in the season when they take on Delhi Dynamos FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday. The defending champions presently have 10 points from seven matches and can boost their semis hopes greatly by winning tomorrow in the capital city. However, it won’t be easy as they are up against a high-flying Delhi Dynamos side, which is coming into the match on the back of two straight wins. 23-year-old Chennaiyin midfielder Siam Hanghal spoke to indiansuperleague.com ahead of the match and shared his thoughts. Here are the excerpts from the interview. On a personal level, how do you think the league is going along this season?I think it has improved quite a lot since the first season and I think it has been going well. You guys started off slowly this year but now you have started to pick up. How is the team progressing as a unit?I think things are looking good and the practice session has been going well, so we are hoping to perform much better in this second phase and looking to get maximum points.Delhi play a very attractive and attacking style of football, so is there any different ploy you will be using against them?Actually, it is up to the coach how we are going to face Delhi and what tactics we are going to use tomorrow. It is totally up to the coach.Chennai hasn’t traditionally been a football city but your team has been a revelation, with fans flocking to the stadium regularly and supporting you. What would you say about the fans in Chennai? When I first came to Chennai I didn’t think they love football so much but after our first home game I realised how much they love football and the support is really good for us.How is the team morale right now? And how are you looking forward to the rest of the league? We are like a family, so even though we conceded a last-minute goal in the last game [vs Mumbai City FC] and even though everyone was upset, still we were trying to motivate each other and now we are looking forward to the next game.
