Delhi Dynamos FC travel to the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi to take on Kerala Blasters FC in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 on Saturday. The Lions are rooted at the bottom of the league standings and are coming off the back of a 3 – 2 setback against Jamshedpur FC. They would be desperately needing a win to boost their confidence and a good defensive display to contain Kerala’s potent attack. Prior to the match, indiansuperleague.com caught up with the visitor’s Venezuelan defender Gabriel Cichero, who shared his thoughts regarding the same. Here are the excerpts.

Delhi lost the last time they played Kerala. Do you think your opponents will have a psychological advantage going into this game?

I think all teams take every game as a final. So, psychologically, I think every team is prepared and focused no matter the position they are in. Nobody likes to lose and it will be a very good game because all professional players like to play with good fans, and I know Kerala’s fans always go to the stadium to support. Hopefully, we will be prepared not only psychologically, but also with good football and good aggression on Saturday.

Do you think it will be difficult for the Dynamos to play in front of so many Kerala fans?

No, which is why I am saying it is a motivation for football players. All the Indian players that I have talked to enjoy playing in this beautiful city and with such great fans. And the fans go there and wait for a win. So on the contrary, we’ll hopefully pick up a win which will be great for us.

What has been the coach’s advice heading into this game?

The coach has always been positive with us. He always speaks to us and make us play good football. He is very concerned with the defensive part because we have made a lot of mistakes. But this is football. The error is part of football and we are just trying to be very positive because if you always speak negative, it is not good for the player. So, we always try to be in a good mood and motivate other players because losing is part of life. We are trying to change everything and become winners again because this is a very good club.

Who do you think will be the danger man for Kerala tomorrow?

Iain Hume is a very good player. I like his quality. Every time he has a chance, he will make a goal. He demonstrated that against us in our last game at Delhi. So, we have to be very concerned about him. Also, their central defender, captain Sandesh Jhingan. I like his aggression and how he plays with passion. I know the Kerala fans like him a lot, so we have to be very careful because they are a very powerful and strong team at home.
