Eduardo Ferreira will be looking to help FC Pune City to their first home win of the 2016 Hero Indian Super League when they host NorthEast United FC at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium in Balewadi on Wednesday. The veteran centre-back has been rock solid at the heart of the Stallions defence this season and is comfortable playing the ball out of defence as his 81% passing accuracy indicates. He has also made three blocks, five successful tackles, seven interceptions and eight blocks for Pune in Hero ISL 2016. Ferreira spoke to indiansuperleague.com ahead his side’s second home match of the season on Wednesday. Here are the excerpts from the interview. You’ve made the centre-back position yours. What are your thoughts on your performances so far and also on your partnership with Gouramangi Singh? We are working hard. Gouramangi Singh is a very strong player. We at the back try talking to each other, to avoid making mistakes in the game. In the last two games… we have conceded one goal per game and we look to avoid conceding any goals in the future. We are working hard, not only at the back but everywhere.Three home games lined up for you now. Are you eyeing all nine points playing in front of home supporters? We’ve talked about it and we are 100% focused. We are happy to play at home. How do you plan to stop NorthEast’s attackers? We have to have a plan for not conceding goals. I’ve watched NorthEast United FC’s lasts two games and they have good players. But we need to look at our performance and ensure we play our best and win this game. What do you think is the strongest factor in your team?We have very good players and everybody works hard to win this league. We don’t work individually, we work together so we can be a very good team like we are now. We hope to win this league for FC Pune City.
