FC Pune City’s chances of lifting the 2015 Hero Indian Super League (ISL) trophy received a massive boost with the return of Eugeneson Lyngdoh to the Stallions squad earlier this week, after he had been away on national duty. Lyngdoh didn’t start for Pune on Wednesday against Delhi Dynamos FC, having played for India less than 24 hours earlier but he did make a cameo appearance for his side which caught everyone’s eye. Even though he had been on the pitch for just 18 minutes it was his cross that met the head of Kalu Uche to give Pune their only goal in a 2-1 defeat. Lyngdoh spoke to indiansuperleague.com in an exclusive interview ahead of what is expected to be his first start for FC Pune City against defending champions Atlético de Kolkata on Saturday. How was your first taste of the Hero ISL?At first when I came onto the pitch it was a little bit tensed but as it kept going I started getting into the mood of the game. I started getting the feel of the game and it all ended up well, [however] disappointingly we lost 2-1."Pune’s been a nice city since the first day I arrived in the city."Eugeneson LyngdohHow do you plan on coping with high expectations from Pune’s fans?Just keep playing the game the way I’ve played throughout my life. [Don’t want to] put myself under any pressure to do anything extraordinary. Just keep playing and do what the coach has asked me to do and keep it simple.Who are you looking forward to playing with the most in the squad?I think all the players in the squad are extremely good in whatever they do, so I’m looking forward to playing along with each and every one of them. You’ve done your studies in Pune and spent a lot of time here. How does it feel to be back? It’s a question I’ve been asked several times. Pune’s been a nice city since the first day I arrived in the city. It was different back then. Now it’s become more commercial and the city is good, the people are good and the atmosphere here is good.
