Currently lying at the bottom of the pack in Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2017-18 are Delhi Dynamos FC, who will be looking to build on a win against Bengaluru FC in their previous match. Spaniard Edu Moya spoke to indiansuperleague.com about the Dynamos’ chances going into the second half of the season. He also shared his thoughts on how Indian youngsters need the right guidance to keep improving on the pitch ahead of Delhi’s clash against Jamshedpur FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Sunday. Here are the excerpts.

What has your experience been like so far in your first Hero ISL?

I am really happy here. I bring to India, all of my experience, and I try to help young players. Everything is possible for me, and I am really happy.

What have you enjoyed the most about being in India?

I enjoy everything because everything is really different for me here. I come from Spain, so it is a good opportunity for me to know about another tradition. Everything is new on the streets, and the food; I am happy because when I return to Spain, it would be a good story for my friends and family to speak about the life in India and the good people.

What are your thoughts on the level of football played in the ISL, especially among the young Indians?

After talking to different players, coaches and managers, I think football in India is growing every year. I am very happy for that, and I hope that in coming years, the same continues for Indian players, especially the younger ones. I hope they continue to be smart and learn from experienced players, which is why I say that I like to help young players all the time. For me, that is a good thing to do.

How easy was it to get along with your new teammates?

My experience has been good, because I am a very social person all the time. I like a smile, and there is a good atmosphere in the club, whether on or off the pitch. For me, playing and living in India is like my family is in India. I feel very happy, and I hope I can stay for more years here in Delhi, or maybe even in another team.

What are your thoughts on Miguel Portugal?

He is a special person for me, because he trusts and believes in me, and that is very important. He knows me from the Spanish league, the La Liga, and he brought me to India. It is a great opportunity for me to continue playing professional football. I hope he is happy with me.

What are your thoughts on the Delhi Dynamos season so far?

There are a lot of reasons for this situation (being last in the league). There are a lot of new players, but I am very happy because I think we play the best football in India. Sometimes, the score is not how we want it, but we train hard everyday to change this situation. The team was very happy last week when we won against Bengaluru. Sometimes football is like this, and we have to continue working hard.

How important was the win against Bengaluru FC, and what is the plan for the remaining games?

I think our them deserved that win. It is not normal to lose six matches, but sometimes in football this happens. The win against Bengaluru was an important one, and now in the second half of the league, I hope we continue this way and win more matches.

What are your thoughts on the next game against Jamshedpur FC?

We have a lot of respect for them because they are a good and strong team. We will try to win tomorrow. It won’t be an easy match, but we will give it our best.
