Dudu disappointed after NorthEast sneak late point

Dudu was bitterly disappointed following Chennaiyin FC’s 3-3 draw against NorthEast United FC in their 2016 Hero Indian Super League encounter at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Saturday evening. The Nigerian striker scored twice in the first half before completing his hat-trick nine minutes from full-time. His hat-trick though wasn’t enough for the Super Machans to secure maximum points with Shouvik Ghosh equalising deep into stoppage-time to the frustration of the home support. Dudu, who was the Hero of the Match and became the only player to have scored hat-tricks for two different teams in the Hero ISL, spoke to indiansuperleague.com after the final whistle. Here are the excerpts from the interview.
3-3 on the night. What are your thoughts on today’s game?
I think we had a good game today and the team played really well but we are quite disappointed that they got a goal in the last minute and now we have one game to go, so let’s see what happens.
You needed three points from the game today but you got only one, so how are you going to approach the next game?
It is quite disappointing for the team and the fans and we did our best but the best was not enough and now we have got to focus on the next game which is very important as we want to win.
You scored all three goals for Chennai, so how does it feel?
I feel good. I had a lot of pressure on myself as I had not scored in a long time. I believed I could do something important today and the fans have been sending me messages motivating me, and I want to thank my teammates for giving me the confidence.
