After suffering a heart-breaking defeat in the 2017-18 final, Bengaluru have another chance at glory when they take on FC Goa for the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) crown at the Mumbai Football Arena on Sunday. Once again, the Blues finished the campaign as league leaders, but this time around they will be hoping to go one step above.

An integral figure behind Bengaluru’s attacking play this season has been Spanish maestro Dimas Delgado. Prior to the main event, the midfielder spoke to indiansuperleague.com on the side’s mentality and their learning from last season. Here are the excerpts:

Two seasons and two Hero ISL Finals for you. Is anything different this time around?

Well, I think, every final is a completely different match and I think, we have achieved this position in the Final with plenty of confidence. I think the team has done a good job all season long. We finished on top of the league table. The team is confident and hungry to play the Final and hopefully, this season we can go through and win the title. I think the whole squad and club deserves it and for sure, our supporters too because they are very good and they have been supporting us all season. They deserve it too.

How is the team feeling going into the Final against FC Goa?

I think we are feeling really good. We had a week of training sessions and everything is set up and we are ready to play. We don't have any player injured so, I think we will be able to take this match and hopefully, we can enjoy it and get the victory because that's why we are here.

Who has a more balanced squad going into the Final between Bengaluru FC and FC Goa?

I think we are quite similar teams. Both teams love to have ball possession and we like to control the tempo of the game. So, I think it will be a very interesting match to watch and hopefully, everything in our plan works out for us and we can get the victory and get the trophy because I think, we fought hard last season and I think we deserve it.

What is the game plan to tackle FC Goa in the Final?

Well, I think our coach, as always, is making a plan to play this match as a special one because it is a Final. We have to control our emotions and feelings and not get too stressed or excited. I think we have trained on these things and I think the team is ready and is in a good momentum to play this Final.

Has there been any learning experience for you from last season's Final?

Well, I think, from the loss that we had in the Final last season, we can learn a lot of things. One of the most important things that we have to keep in mind is to take care of the small details because they make a big difference. Hopefully, this time, we can control ourselves and take control of all the small details, and this time the balance swings in our favour.
